Orphan Annie- Friend of Bill W!
Orphan Annie- Friend of Bill W!
It just occurred to me that “Annie” (“Little Orphan Annie”), as in the musical by that name, was a friend of Bill W! Not that Annie was a heavy drinker (although she did have a dependency problem with Sandy, her dog). Maybe it was because the lady who ran the orphanage (played by Carol Burnett) seemed to be under the weather most of the time. Anyway Annie’s favorite song, so wonderfully rendered by Annie along with President Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt, Oliver Warbucks and Oliver’s live in lady companion, seems to me the very essence of Bill W.’s admonition to take things “one step at a time”, “one day at a time”, as in the lyrics:
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!
Good for you Annie! Hope you log on to SR and give us all an upbeat yodel!
