Hi everyone. I'm new here, new to recovery. I've been drinking on and off since I was 14. I stopped for all four of my pregnancies, and while my ex was in recovery, but otherwise it's been twenty years now that I've been abusing alcohol.
My current partner is in another state for business, and will be for the next 4 months, which leaves me to handle this pretty much on my own. I don't have transportation to most of the aa meetings in my area, but can occasionally get there.
I have two teenagers and a toddler, and one of my teenagers has a newborn. I also have a small urban farm that keeps me running.
I am dreading the next week. I had one glass of wine today. I have been drinking somewhere between 1-2pints of vodka a day or 1-2 big bottles of wine.

Welcome, Cuppycakes! Most of us here have been in your shoes. You've taken a huge step by just admitting that you have a problem. Once you see the problem you can find solutions. There are many paths to quitting; some require meetings and some don't. Hang out here and explore some of the options with us.

Congratulations in seeing there is a problem of drinking. Being honest with ourselves is very important as we strongly are in denial generally. Depending on several factors it's advisable to see your doctor, being honest and "simply" stop and stay stopped drinking. Sounds simple and for some who are sick and tired of being sick and tired it's easier because of the "remember when" factor. There is a lot of good advice here and AA. As to getting to meetings I suggest giving them a call which may result in rides as it's a fellowship of people helping people to be sober. BE WELL
Welcome, Cup. You are not "on your own". There are many, many of us here who are on the same journey as you. SR is the only source of support I have looked to in my mere 7 days of sobriety. And it has worked for me - so far. I am glad you are here.
