I hate what the alcohol does to me

I'm 2 days sober. Aching all over. Excercised this morning. I can't seem to make more than 4 days sober at anytime. It's so damn frustrating. Vicious cycle.
I know I can make it this long weekend. Tuesday or Weds, the F$&@? ing
Problem resurfaces.

Hi and welcome Rndz7

I found reading and posting here regularly got me out of that 3-4 day cycle...it's harder to give in and drink when you face up to just how destructive that decision is

I know you'll find support here

So, if you know to expect the 4th day to be a problem, plan ahead.

Do whatever you can during that day to make things easier for you. Change your daily routine, drive home from work a different way, shop at a different store - anything to help you get through the day.

Courage to change.

I have the weakness to give in. But not the courage to change. Anna's tip on changing what I do on my weak day makes sense. I will try and remain conscious of this. One day at a time, as of right now.

Two things I've found helpful here. Read everyone's stories. And before you take that first drink fast forward to the end. Since you said, "I hate what alcohol does to me" you probably have a whole list of morning after regrets you can sift through

And keep posting.

When I was early in recovery I came here a lot. It really helped to be surrounded by supportive friends.

Day 5

Urge surfed my way, thru this day. But I know the creep called alcohol is cunning. Either way, I used the tools. My son is in rehab. His mother is cleaning
The apartment. She found a dozen dead give aways. Too bad she didn't believe me every time I told her he was an addict. Now lets see if he is ready to surrender. 85% relapse. I learned its me I have to worry about. Easy does it.
