My first day

I drink like a 30 pack every other day, its been about 2 months since i relapsed, never drink back to back cause I can't deal with the hangovers. I find myself getting more and more drunk and just making bad decisions and acting a fool. So today is my first day of giving a go at sobriety. Gonna dump the beers and just try to be around positive people. I am a little worried about withdrawal symptoms, but the dr gave me some xanax I guess to deal with it. Any advice or support would be awesome! Thank you.

Welcome and I'm glad you talked to your dr.

Being around positive people is a good idea. Many of us have to make some changes regarding friends in early recovery. I think it might be a good idea to make some plans to fill the time when you would have been drinking. And, please keep posting here and reading.

Welcome!

Adding to what Anna said about making plans to fill the time: keep track of the money you're saving by not drinking. It feels really good.

Thank you very much. I just kinda feel out of nowhere today a sense of ease. Like I can do it. I'm almost emotional cause I been waiting for this feeling. Now time to hit a meeting.

Welcome! I like your enthusiasm. That "aha" moment is really freeing, isn't it?

Congratulations on your decision George. You'll feel so much better without it in your life.

I don't really have a plan. Just don't drink and make meetings and stay away from people that drink. Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone. It's awesome!
