I needed a place where people in person understood my un manageable mannerisms as I was willing to go to any length to get sober in mind and body, that's AA. BE WELL

What's happened to bring this on? Can you identify any stressors.

You probably got through your first few weeks with stronger urges than you have now...you can get through this. Be strong.

And don't hang out with you friend and his beer today!

Think it through to the conclusion. What is the most likely outcome?

You can stay sober!

Try and see the craves as urges you can surf - in that they will pass - you know they will. No matter how strong they are, the urges and cravings will pass. See them through. Listen to them as cries from the beast that you have (so impressively damn!) shut down since last January.

Stay strong. Trust yourself.

- the obstacle is the path -

It's fantastic that you posted here.

You CAN get through this. After more than 18 months of sobriety, you know that you don't need a drink. You know what will happen if you give in. As Dark Days says, play it through to the end - the damage you could do physically and psychologically, the hangover, the shame . . But walk away now with it all intact and you'll be even stronger.

Rooting for you, my friend xx

Do you have any support groups that you can contact? It sounds like you need someone to talk to in person and maybe going to meetings or group therapy would help you get through this time. Cravings suck....sorry you are going through that, but hang in there.

Of course the beast is in you. It's remarkable that you've been so strong for so long. Do not forget that.

I'm not a religous guy but I tend to think you are being tested, that when I suffer for the booze that it's a test.

Pain is the classroom.

Just ride it out...

Cravings and urges are just that, they are not actions. You don't want to drink, do not drink. I am no expert but I think if you stay resolved especially during this high craving period , you will regain your confidence in yourself. You can do this you know that right? look at the past 18 mnths, you got this
wish you well

Just got back and my friend got 3 huge bottles of beer. Sipping in front of me. I explained that I don't want booze in my house. He thinks I'm a bit crazy. That stupid beer is in my fridge. No alco has been in my fridge for 18 months. This is very hard and sad.

You are starting to sound to me like you want this to happen.

It's your house HF. Make the rules and stick to them.
House moving is stressful and sometimes we can interpret that stress as a call to drink.

It doesn't mean you're weak, it just means you're under stress
Do you have any healthy strategies to deal with stress HF?

Remember you've been sober for a while now...there's no reason at all to turn your back on it now. You are stronger than your addiction - you've proved that for nearly 2 years

did you ever try urge surfing?

Tell him to take the beer out of your fridge and out of your house and to drink it elsewhere. It doesn't matter if he thinks you're a bit crazy. Your house, your rules. Your sobriety has to come first. You have to put it above what's convenient for other people and above what other people think of you.

I would find having beer in my fridge hard too HF. Have you moved in with someone? Or is this a visiting friend? I had a situation recently where I was considering offering a friend to stay with me as they are recently separated, but they drink. And I just couldn't bear having beer in my fridge. So the only solution I could think of was to get a one of those mini beer fridges that they could keep in their room. Out of sight out of mind.

Have you had any success making sober friends? That is something which can really help. I don't have many but just having someone I can ring up and meet for coffee without worrying about what they think of me is really helpful.

Remember too that cravings are comparatively fleeting. This will pass and you will be happy you stayed sober x

Not much we can do when you ask for help, we try to provide some, and you don't take it.

Hope this doesn't lead to a relapse.
