Today I'm grateful I could eat soup.

Hey everyone, I know it sounds goofy, but today, I was able to eat soup! I'm 10 days sober and I think the worst of my shakes/withdrawals have passed. A number of weeks ago I went out to lunch with a co-worker and we both ordered soup at a restaurant. There I was wearing a suit, and nearly 8 hours after my last drink, and I went to dip the spoon in the bowl, and my hands were shaking so bad I made a mess on the table, and spilled it on myself. The look on the other persons face made me feel horrible, like it was an instant disclosure, knowing I was a drunk.

Today, I ordered soup and didn't spill a drop. And I was able to eat it! I know it sounds trivial, but for that, I am grateful for that.

Wow.

Onward and upward....

That is so not trivial!

Little things like that, which that some people take for granted, make the battle against booze worth it.

Wishing you the best xxxx

Hey I totally understand your excitement at this because a few weeks ago my hands shook so bad I couldn't write my nephews birthday card lol and like u say its soooo embarrassing in that moment.

It's the silly wee things that somehow make this all worthwhile good for you ordering that soup lol

You'll laugh at that minor embarrassment someday! Be glad you managed to get off the ride. Congrats!
