Almost Gave In

Tonight after working and busy 12hr shift I almost caved. Instead I thought how I would feel in the morning and kept on going. I am drinking a nice cold glass of water and looking forward to waking up with a clear head and anxiety free.

Smart thinking, always remember the damn hangovers and how bad they feel and keep your sobriety the most important thing.

Nice work B. I really love when I am able to get through such a moment and then look back when the moment has passed and realize that I got through it! It is precisely those battle wins that strengthen us in sobriety..that lets us know we really can do this..we really can do life and get through the hairy moments stone cold sober : )

But you didn't cave and that has made you alot stronger.

bdnb, I second everyone's posts and throw in my banana sobriety dance!

(I love how there's a front man with two backups)

Thanks everyone! It really is an awesome feeling waking up sober, ready to take on the day knowing you beat the beast another day. Here's to another day and its almost been a week.

There's not much of a better feeling, to me, in early sobriety, as surfing those damn urges.

Because they pass! No matter how heavy, deep, frustrating - they always pass.

The obstacle is the path.

Good going! The hangover is an excellent reason to quit. As a young man I hardly ever felt hungover, no matter how much I drank. When I hit 30 the hangovers started getting works, and by my early 40s they were downright brutal. Still it took me a few more years to realize I had to quit!

See the cravings for what they really are- the panicked thrashings of the 'Beast' or 'Addictive Voice' trying to get from the cage.

Had a bad craving last night here too, I went for a walk and it was ok after. This is not easy.
