Depressed
I've been sober for 30 days for the first time in 20 years.
After the first week of detoxing was over I felt great, happy full of hope and energy.
Now, I cry all the time and feel depressed. I miss my friends and the fun we have together socially.
I've been out socially sober and I feel awkward and bored.
I'm going to a wedding on the weekend with my partner. I'm scared I won't know how to have a good time.

Hey Dena2,
Welcome to SR .. Sobriety seems to make us go through the whole gamult of emotions . Giving it time was the thing i had to do , i decided however bad it got drinking wasn't an answer .
If it hangs around to long then go see a Dr .
Again with feeling awkward socially , i just needed time and practaice to lean how to be sober and sociable
I used to take a big bottle of water with me to hide behind and so no-one would offer me a drink ...

Feeling emotional and depressed is part of the process I think. It certainly was for me. I swung from feeling incredibly angry to bursting into tears for no apparent reason. It was rocky. But it got better. The best thing to do is to just stick at it and get as much support as you can to ride it out. Really glad you found SR x
