Hi there!

Hi everyone, my name is Michelle. I'm from Melbourne, Australia.
I've made the decision to attain sobriety. I've been a two bottle of wine drinker for the past two years, and I honestly don't know how I'm alive. But it's affecting my life so much and I need to change it. I've lost friends, my work has suffered, my appearance has drastically suffered. I have to make the change. I've hurt people around me that I love, and I've hurt myself so much. I'm determined to succeed. I have to, to save my life

I was doing the 2 bottles of wine a night. I feel hideous. My blood is cold. I have pains and tremors. It's getting better though, third day off the wine. Weekend will be tough I know.

I'm actually terrified. I don't know how I'm going to hit that 5pm mark and not open my first bottle. I'm actually counting down the minutes, only 75 mins until that time. I'm so determined not to do it, I think tonight is going to be a rough night.
Alne1147, day 3 for you, well done! I'm going to be so happy if I get to day 3. You would be proud!

It's not easy but it gets easier. This is the ultimate Venus fly trap.

Thank you pinkdog. Sometimes you feel like you're the only person who has ever gone through it, it's good to know you're not alone, and can be supported by people who have been there before you.

Welcome aboard Michelle

The first few days are pretty scary for everyone, but you're not alone here.
There's tons of support - and we understand...we all know how you feel

Hello Michelle and welcome to SR.

A really good decision to quit, you won't regret it. Post as much as you need to, there is always someone here who will listen x

Welcome Michelle. You will find lots of support here and probably many stories similar to your own....even though we feel so alone in the beginning.

I was drinking around the volume you were for many years. Now at day 34. Something unimaginable to me only a few weeks ago.

Look forward to hearing more from you.

Michelle: I hope you survived the "witching hour", but if you didn't today is another day. Check in. Keep us posted. It will get easier.

I know it's an obvious thing to say but just take it a day at a time. Thinking about not drinking for weeks, months and years is overwhelming. So just get through today, worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.
