Fascinating article - thanks I've been doing this myself over the past few days. Just woke up at 2am, but then, I did fall asleep at 7pm. Crazy times

Thanks, SB....I just told my DH that that is exactly what I've been doing for 10 years....sleeping like my ancestors. Does this mean I'm (allegedly) normal?

LDT - I think it means that you and I are highly intelligent individuals who fail to bow to convention - Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it lol x

Was that one of you who mentioned this in one of my posts? I remember someone saying they go to bed "when the sun sets" and mentioned that's how it was done in the old days. That stuck with me (enough to remember but not enough to remember who said it LOL)

Zoe...I just think it means I read a lot.... That's what I do "in between" sleeps. I also buy too many books on my Kindle, which is becoming a teensy bit of a problem

I don't do this, but I do know enough about good sleep and that it's not a good thing to have a bright light a few hours before sleeping....dimmer lights a few hours before sleeping to mimic how people slept before electricity....

I just found the article interesting, posted somewhere else by a dear sober friend, so I shared it with SR

I love the peace and quiet in the 'wee small hours' though, do you?
I also love reading - half way through a course at the moment though, so tends to be that more than anything. x

I have a situation where I am only four days sober, and I want to sleep all the time. I don't have hangovers anymore though! I am concerned that my energy will never come back. Also having brain fog. I forgot my password at work yesterday! And then my pin at the bank took a couple of tries. This is not normal for me.

Don't worry Sherman . Things will eventually level out . You are still in early days so go easy on yourself.

I have been aware of Roger Ekirch's discovery, after decades of sleep problems, I finally have a handle on it. My "bedtime" is now within an 11 hour window. I need to be up at 6:00am, so I am in bed sleeping by 7:00pm. Some friends now think I am boring and that I am missing out on some "night life", but I am so refreshed and feeling better in the morning while most people need caffeine to start the day. In the night, I awaken at around 12:00am and stay up for about 2 hours. Spend the time reading or working on math problems, or playing guitar, nothing too "exciting". I actually found this lifestyle helps with my sobriety as my middle of the night time gives me time to reflect. I am not missing anything.
