Hiya. I'm pretty new to this. I've wanted to stop drinking now for a few years. It's gotten especially bad in the past 6 years though, and eventhough I'm craving a drink like mad right now, I want to be able to stop.
Going it alone hasnt worked out too well for me so far. The longest I've gone without a drink in the past 6 years or so was about 9 or 10 days. I'm hoping reading and posting here will help me stop.
Today's day 1.

Welcome Incy. These forums are a positive start to recovery. Another may be AA as it has worked for millions over the last 77 years. One highly desirable need is to be honest with ourselves and not picking up the first drink. Being honest, especially the first XXX months is like a mind field with inner beasts suggesting many untrue things about our drinking. Such as It wasn't that bad, you can stop tomorrow, just one, I need one, I need to unwind, I deserve one and on and on. BE WELL
Welcome Incy! We also have a Chat Room, if you need support.
You're more than welcome to join us. (click on the chat room upper right) I spent lots of time there when the cravings hit. Sure helped me through some rough times.

Hi inch and welcome, have you checked out the Class of August 2013 thread, or the Year and unders? Lots of newbies to compare notes with! But also lots of sterling advice and support. Be strong.
