I thought it was great, too. Love it when a movie like this brings the issue of addiction out into the open, develops the character of the addict so that everyone can see that he is human, held prisoner by the power of the disease, and can empathize with his plight. A movie like this, in main stream theaters, goes a long way towards creating understanding and reducing stigma, I think.

I loved this movie. He's relateable, even if I did want to punch him a couple of times.

Yeah I thought it was great as well. Denzel is one of my favorite actors. That moment in "Flight" where he stares at the mini-bar, he does not say one word...yet his character is saying so much. Real talented guy, real cool film.

This movie was one of my taps on the shoulder among many. The fridge scene sealed it for me.

What I found interesting is my mother also watched it. She said she did not care for it and it was nothing about what she thought it was about. I also did not know what it was really about either. I thought is was about a plane crash but I thought it was great.

I guess she is not an alcoholic..lol

I watched it myself and agree it was a very Good movie & denzel played the part really well. I did feel on once or twice during the movie it glamorised drug use, especially the john goodman scene before court. I remember having a bit of euphoric recall while looking at that bit,, denzel with the shades on in the lift etc.
I have to say though it was a gripping movie.

When I was in the theatre watching it, an older couple behind me were complaining about how bored they were! Obviously no understanding or interest in addiction there either!

Again, interesting.

I have watched many movies that I cannot relate to in real life and I still find them entertaining. Maybe that is the difference. As an alcoholic I was not entertained, I was relating.

I guess for the non-alcoholic there was no entertainment factor so they felt it was boring. They could not relate, so again, boring.
