You are withdrawing from alcohol. If you are trying to quit, you need to detox. Go to the hospital.

It's a miserable thing to cope with. I can't ever go back to those days. Try to remember how you feel - write it down - maybe it'll help you to not go there again. I'm sorry you feel awful, Kayla - but maybe it can lead to something good happening in your life.

Kayla,

It sucks having the shakes. I have had them plenty of times but they usually occur on Monday mornings while I am working. Not so fun!

If you feel that you need assistance with your shakes and the shakes are getting out of hand, call your doctor and seek medical advice. My shakes only lasted a few days but that was because I drank heavily for 3 days nonstop (all weekend).

I hope you get to feeling better and you seek some medical help if needed.

Take Care

Drinking milk and taking vitamin B1 will calm the nerves. But I would go to a doctor. Better safe than sorry.

Yes, go to the doctor. When I quit I had the horrible shakes and it lasted for weeks. I didn't know when I quit how serious detoxing could be. Like others said better to be safe than sorry.

I pretty well drank EVERY day with a break here and there. Did this for many, many years. It will get better though.

It should be gone within 3-5 days (shake and red face) but do what the others say, go to a doctor. Detoxing from alcohol can be deadly. Also make sure you are well hydrated. Get some sport drinks or gatorade.
You NEVER have to go through that again you know Do you have a plan?

I've been through this so many times. I hate this. I hope I can make it to work tomorrow. I'm scared they will know what is going on. I have a huge gash on the bridge of my nose from falling flat on my face.

You said a doctor gave you a prescription to help with your quitting. Bare minimum contact him/her immediately with your symptoms. If you can't get in contact, i'd try and get to urgent care/ER as soon as you can. It could be a lot of things, many of them harmless, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If you can't get to the hospital on your own, call 911. They would much rather take you in and find out it's nothing than the alternative.

Hi Kayla

it really is best to seek some medical help, if only for your own peace of mind.
Detox can sometimes be really rough, even if you've done it many times before.

How are you doing Kayla? I know that feeling of hating yourself. If you can stay sober one day at a time it does go away.

I still don't feel good at all. My face is on fire. I'm going to go to work and hope I can act somewhat normal. I work at a dentist office. God, I don't want to lose my job.

Kayla, that's what makeup is for. And you are normal. Focus on the task at hand, drink lots of water, and do it. You have a genetic problem, not your fault and you are dealing with it.

Look at your patients. What are they dealing with? Focus on their needs with the knowledge you have that we are all suffering from something. You have a unique understanding; use it.
