The small great things about being sober

Since being sober i've been noticing loads of things that have improved my life that i never realised were even caused by being an alcoholic.

Weight (already lost some this week according to WiiFit!)
Recycling
Fresh mornings
Less knackered
Saving loads of cash
No shaving rash!!
Started weight lifting again
Walking to shops rather than lazy driving
puffy eyes going
can be bothered to shower
healthy craps again
piles gone (grim)

Any more you can think of?

Well, as you raised the subject... Can go out without eating handfuls of Imodium

Hi Chef, I'm with Zoe on the no immodium. I had to take them all the time too. Also no vomiting, no stuffy sinuses, I can eat regular foods, even salad and digest it. Great post. Good one!

and i'll completely agree about the new joys of having a significantly healthier digestive system.
and my nose isn't red and swollen anymore.

I do not miss the nightsweats! I took tons of Imodium and didn't realize how common that was until I read this post....didn't realize how much alcohol was trashing my digestive system.

Great post. I love reading and reaffirming the benefits of sobriety.

One I'd like to add is Time. I have so much more of it now and I can get so much more done.

(Although it can sometimes be a double edged sword when I get bored!)

Totally get the weight issue. I've lost 6lbs in the last five days unfortunately I've been craving sweets which I've never liked before

My tastebuds are back tenfold. Flavors are enhanced and foods that I used to love are being appreciated all over again almost like I'm eating them for the first time. My sense of smell is also significantly better. For the most part this is phenomenal... Occasionally it's not so pleasant if a skunk is around or all of the other unpleasant smells of life ha. But atleast I'm not numbed out.

Agree with all of this. The strange thing is that when I listed all the problems alcohol gave me I never realised it was affecting my taste and smell too. Having them back is like an added bonus.
