Intro
Hi Y'all. Joined the site today and I am glad I did. I am now exactly 562 days sober and it has been a challenge and a half on this road to recovery. But Boy! Has every challenge (and they continue) ha been worth it. Two years ago I hit rock bottom... I lost everything... My partner, a very well paying job and great opportunities. I was making terrible and devastating choices in my life. I had spiralled totally out of control. Simply because I was drunk every waking moment of the day. I nearly lost my life on several occasions.... And one day, my dearest Mum, begged and cried to me.. She was losing me and was scared. I stopped drinking cold turkey....sure enough I was admitted to hospital with severe withdrawal. After getting out of hospital, I was advised to join counselling, AA, seek support etc. I was convinced I could beat alcohol on my own.... Then I convinced myself I could control my intake... And soon enough I was back... HARD! For the love of my wife... I stopped drinking again... This time with help, counselling, support groups and friends. I am over 500 days sober and loving it. I can't begin to stress the importance of shared experiences and support. I'm glad to be here... To be inspired to continue my journey... And to inspire others.

Hi Stevie! Great job on your sober time. I hope you find it supportive & encouraging to be here with us. SR helped me find the courage to change my life. Glad to have you join us.
