Within 24 hours, if you are going to have withdrawal, you will know. As I'm sure you know, alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous. Go to the web and research what to look for so you can get help if things get too bad (WebMD is a good place to start). If you choose, you can go to your Doctor and get something to help you during this time. Clonidine is often given (for high blood pressure, but also helps withdrawal symptoms), along with a few others. Your Doctor might offer a benzo like Valium, but be careful. These are highly addictive, and withdrawal from these drugs makes alcohol withdrawal feel like a walk in the park (and can last for months). I've gone through alcohol withdrawal both ways (with prescription help and without) and the coin is in the air as to which is better. It can be pretty unpleasant either way. The good news is that it's basically a 3-4 day problem. Rest, stay hydrated (lots of liquid will help enormously), watch your favorite movies, read as much recovery literature as you can get your hands on, and give yourself the credit you deserve...you're doing it! Congratulations!
