Been MIA. Trying to get back to day 1

Was doing soo good for a couple months then last couple weeks back to the same old crap. Really frustrated with myself but trying to start over again. Still just boggles my mind why we have to be so much stronger and try so much harder to be "normal" like everyone else

Welcome back, drifted. Everyone has their burdens to carry, ours is addiction. At least here there are plenty to share the load. Be strong my friend

Hi driftedsoul

I'm not sure we have to be stronger or harder than anyone else - we just need to accept a certain reality.

Once I accepted that I was an alcoholic and that I could not drink if I wanted to be the man I wanted to be, things started to fall into place a little more.

I found a me I liked, and a life I wanted to live.

I'm not sure too many people have that - we might actually be lucky in a way?

Welcome to another try for the ring, you can do it like so many, one day at a time then life does get much better when we don't pick up that first drink.

" Still just boggles my mind why we have to be so much stronger and try so much harder to be "normal" like everyone else."
Lets face it we didn't get to where we are in one day or years. No miracles yet. Normal is a washer/dryer choice. BE WELL

If by normal you mean "normal drinker" then yes, that's a struggle I gave up on. So much easier to be sober, than normal in that regards.

As for any other kind of normality you might mean, I'm not so sure everyone doesn't struggle to meet someone else's image of what normal is.

I hear you doggonecarl. I guess I just wish it would be easy for my normal to be a non-drinker, not a drunk

It doesn't seem easy to make that change at the time - but then life as a drunk is no picnic either, y'know?

I look back and I'm really glad I made the change, DS.
