Ready! Get set! STOP!
How is it when I stay sober I have so much more energy that I want to go out and let loose?
How is it when I drink all I want to do the next day is stop?
Hurry up and stop. Is this a race? Yes.
For me it's a relay race of sorts. I find I go a portion with a frame of mind that hands off to another when I have learned enough.
I am sure I could never have been able to get to this point in the process without everything before it. I have fallen many times. Dropped the baton. Sometimes others are there to pick it up and hand it back to me.
But this is my race... My coming around the bend to the next leg.
Fridays especially.... Talk about ready... Set... Go...
I still go. I have spent over a year now figuring out how to live sober. What can I find to motivate me to go but not drink. I have some favorite things to do but I am still learning.
I go by cooking on weekends ... Trying something new.
I go by getting exercise. I want to try zip lining. I go to NYC to people watch. I go by taking a drive to the beach for a afternoon. I even go by reading.
I find I can stay stopped by all of my going. That's corny but true.
