Rehab appt tomorrow

After years of trying I am finally seeing an addictions counsellor tomorrow. The plan is to participate in an outpatient program. I'm nervous but looking forward to getting this under control.

Time after time Dee and Anna ,and others, have asked what I was going to do differently this time. This time I'm going to risk people (doctors, insurance, etc.) knowing because it has become clear to me that I won't survive if I don't.

I'm cautiously optimistic--and I'm going through with this. As always, thank you SR. :tyou

glad to hear this! isolating never helped me, connecting and discussing with others keeps me in the place i need for physical and emotional health.
your situation is difficult as your husband likes the social aspect of alcohol and still drinks.

you will feel better, you have had a lot of upset with the family this past year. coping with all this too.

Do the work to recover, make the changes you need to make, and accept that you can never drink and you'll make great strides. Good luck.

MIssy - I did a six month out patient rehab last year. I was scared to death, like you are. What I learned is that all the patient files are sealed in the Chemical dependency unit. Therefore, none of my other doctors (OB/GYN, etc) had any knowledge of my time there. I also learned how many people have addictions and all of those who spend their lives trying to help those who do. It is just huge. An eye opener. Good luck to you, it will be a relief once you are there and realize that loving caring people will help you.

Missy, it's great that you are confronting your alcoholism and doing what you need to do. Be very proud of yourself for making that choice.

That is AWESOME news. I think you will really start to grow and see some changes now that you are really challenging yourself and are stepping out of your routine comfort zone. Well done!
