Need to make it through this

family holiday , never before have we all got our kids together aswell as our mother and had a vaction ,
only 2 days there, drank so much vodka I threw up everwhere in my sleep , and spent the next day hugging the toilet bowl , whilst my family enjoyed the sun . The anxiety of worrying had I nearly killed myself , has forced me to find you here and look for the help I need to stop this behaviour , which as escalated over the last 18months , I'm three yrs away from my half century and , have a family history of alcoholism

Welcome, Avaalfie, to SR

Lots of help and advice here that I'm certain you kneed..

Throwing up in one's sleep is not at all good.
However, you're still with us
Take it as a very important sign that your body can't handle what you try to put it through.

Best of luck to you, really

Do you see the huge difference between what your life was like and what your family's life was like? That's how alcoholism destroys you.

And I'm willing to bet they weren't too happy with it either.

They got to enjoy their day, you were a wreck.

This is what it does to you. It's great that you want to quit. One day you'll be having a fun family holiday where everyone is enjoying it together, including you.
