Almost a month.....gone
It has been almost a month sober and they are gone. I had a stressful day at work and could think of nothing but a drink, so what do I do? Drive an hour to the liquor outlet store because everthing is closed because of a holiday. I wanted it so bad, to be sober that is, and it is all gone. I give ip. supoose to work in the mornimg but not sure hoe that is going to happem.
hi bdnb
A lot of us faltered a time or two. This is not the end, just a stumble.
You might restart the count again but you haven't lost that almost month - everything you learned and achieved is still there.
You just need to work out what else you need to do - more work on dealing with cravings perhaps, and the importance of reaching out for help when you need it?
I think coming here would have been way better than driving all the way to that store?

I kniw it so furustatng. jst when you think you have it kicked...... bam it hots you. as an ex drunk you shold know you cant pour good booze down the drain. you royhr have to give it away or drink it. I;l drink a few more and dea wth the rest tomorrow. so dam drustrated
I never poured any out either - but from this side of the fence I see now I didn't have to drink down to the last dregs, I just chose to.
Make better choices than I did man - best thing to do now is just go to bed bdnb.

I get you, bdnb. I wouldn't have been able to quit after I broke the seal on my sobriety, either. If I could quit before I was blackout drunk, I wouldn't be here. Tomorrow's a new day, though. You can pull up your bootstraps and get right back on the horse. I have some work to do on my coping skills, too. Maybe some of the folks who have been sober for a long time have some tips for us newly minted former drinkers? Check in tomorrow, will you? I'm sure we'd all love to see you back on the forum and back on track. A stumble doesn't have to lead to a fall.
