Smile Distressed

I have been sober approx. 6 mos. now, but now have a son who has moved home with me from another province, after only just getting married recently. To me he has hit rock bottom. I am finding it difficult to deal with him without taking it all on myself (trying to stay sober). I have had moments lately where I think I could use a nice glass of wine to destress me, but haven't reached out for it yet as deep down I guess I know it is not the answer. I have gotten sober on my own (with God's help). I have a strong faith.
I am at a point now where I know I have to make a decision as to whether or not I want to keep him under my roof. I probably should go back to Al-Anon. I went yrs. ago when I was dealing with his father's alcoholism. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone.

Hey Grapevinelady ,

Sounds difficult , certainly sounds like Al-Anon would be a good place to start . I hope your son finds what he needs and you do too .

Bestwishes, m

Al-anon sounds like a good plan. Is your son still drinking?

Any outside support you find sounds like a great plan. As mothers we tend to disregard our needs for our children's even when they're grown. Please stay conscious of your needs, make sure you take care of you first. If drinking in your home is not safe for you then make it known that it will be inexactable. You can do this! 6 months is amazing work. Welcome to SR!
