Having a moment..

I am having a bad moment, feeling bored and lonely... Going for a drink is not an option but I am so tempted, this is the first time in 15 days ...

I think a key thing in early sobriety, at least it has been for me, is how to deal with temptation. I have decided its ok to be tempted and its to be expected. In the past I would have tried to dismiss it or just ignore it, but realizing it will pass is the way i am presently dealing with it.

I also think of everything I would lose by getting drunk.

I hope the feelings pass soon, as they always do.

You are reaching out. This is good. We all have our moments. Breathe in and out, and know that you are making a fabulous decision to remain sober.
I am sorry that you are having a tough go of it today. It will get better.

Try to think BEYOND that drink!!! Would it be just one?? Where does it lead you too??? Will it fill you with fear , panic and anxiety??? Or would you like to stay feeling safe, peaceful serene and wake up tommorow morning and smile because you are now 16 days sober!!

It's not easy Hun, do not romance that thought of a drink because it will take over ur mind very fast, zap it out right now, go for a walk, have a shower, pick up the phone or read a book , we must change our thoughts and habits, good luck, x

The day is almost over.

Think how long that buzz would actually last and what it means in terms of giving up what you worked so hard for.

You can handle lonely. And you sure as heck can handle bored.

Deep breaths. And if nothing else, just hold on until tomorrow.

You won't regret not getting drunk tomorrow.

why not think of some things to do outside the house on the weekend that don't involve alcohol, silvy?

Thank you ... This helps a lot. I am fine I did what always helps me when trying to deal with something that is really bothering me and don't laugh but I started cleaning haha. My kitchen bathroom and bedroom .. Feel much better now and at peace that I didn't pick up the car keys and went out.. The regret would have been awful tomorrow... I know this will happen again, I have plans on how to deal with it... Get busy...
