Day 1 almost over
Day 1 almost over
Hi everyone....Don't know what to write so ill keep it short. Glad that I've found somewhere to come for support. Went to AA once but with two little ones its hard to get to the meetings especially with hubby working away. Today is Day 1 sober for me. I drink every day and have done so for about 6 yrs now....it sucks the life from me...always tired, hungover etc..Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight. Thanks for making this site available ...it's a god send and will be my crutch through the early days and beyond xx

Good for you! And now just focus on today. You are as sober today as someone with 24 years of sobriety - it started this morning and ends tonight. Don't worry about your days and if you can find a way to get to even one meeting a week, it will help! Get to bed sober tonight - that's your mission. Ask God for help, or if you're an atheist; pray to anything - but ask for help. Keep in mind that you can allow thoughts of a drink to happen, but you don't have to act on them - thoughts are normal and will pass if you know you are an alcoholic, and it's normal for us to want to drink ourselves to death. God bless you.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a little one too, so I understand it's hard to find personal time to ourselves. I have drank pretty much everyday for about 5 years. I'd love for this to be Day 1 for me.
If you don't mind, may I ask how much you were drinking each day? Are you experiencing any withdrawal?

We're so glad you joined us Mish. Be proud of yourself for wanting a better life for you and your family. You can do this.
I felt instantly calmer and more positive after I joined here. I had people to talk to who really understood. That made all the difference to me. Hope it helps to know you're not alone.

Welcome Mish! I am the mom to a gorgeous 6 year old girl, and I too have been drinking daily for the last 6 years.
Well, actually I am now sober for the past 3 months, and everyone here with the support given has been so helpful...especially during those tough days:-)
