Congratulations David. One day/minute at a time is the way. Guarantee best results is from NOT picking up the first drink so we don't have to get sober again. BE WELL

Thumbs up

Listening and absorbing what Id hear
from others as they share their own
experiences, stregths and hopes of
what their lives were like and are like,
before, during and after drinking, has
helped many learn to stay sober a day
at a time adding days to weeks to months
and yrs. of continuous sobriety.

Id listen to what worked and didn't work
and watched members pop in and out
of recovery for years which helped me
stay on course with my own recovery.

Learning about my addiction is just like
going to grade school, high school and
college, maybe trade school. We take each
course and learn about it from teachers,
professors, councilors with the books,
computers, and knowledge to guide us
along.

Once we learn about our subject, alcoholism,
math, we apply that knowledge in our jobs,
work, play, recovery and everyday life.

We can't just become professors or President
of a huge company if we don't learn what it
is we need to learn first to get to that position.

It takes time to learn and apply what we are
taught before we become useful members of
society and recovery.

Celebrate each day sober because it is meant
to be for a recovering alcoholic. It's a gift to be
cherished.

Hello David! Congratulations on your 3 weeks sober - that's wonderful news.

After I joined SR I didn't feel alone fighting this battle anymore. I was comforted by the fact that so many here understood me - people in my life had no idea what I was going through. I think the support & encouragement will really help you stay on course. Glad to have you with us.
