Hello, I have been lurking for a while and you guys inspired me to go two weeks
without a drop. I had a minor setback this week but I want to give it another go.
Thanks for the encouraging posts, I suspect they help out a lot of silent participants like myself.

I'm glad you are here William. I can tell you that with a little time it get's easier. I stay sober by coming here and going to AA. It really helps to have people to relate to, without that I don't think I could have done it!

William - Welcome to SR!! I lurked here for about 2 YEARS! I did relapse, but I kept getting drawn back here. I kept reading posts and thinking "I want to be where they are!!"
6+ years later, in recovery, SR has been a huge part of my success. I will say, I went to AA for a while and still use what I learned there. It was just coming here, and seeing what worked for others, seeing those who went back out and came back, that inspired me.

Welcome and I'm glad you decided to post. I often wonder about some of the silent readers and those who are lurking because I was shy in the beginning too! It's not easy to open up sometimes but that's why I like the forum environment - we can share strength and hope without having to actually stand up in a room full of people we don't know... I have been coming here for about a year. It has saved me from relapse. I'm hoping it does the same for you! Hang in there!
