Man o man
I think everyone finds their own path to recovery. I didn't even KNOW about the AV back when I went to meetings briefly.
I use what I learned from my short time in AA, what I've learned from people at SR (including Buddhism, Native American beliefs, etc.), things I've learned about from recovering codependents.
I'm glad AA has worked for you ((Visch)) but even the BB says it's not the only way.
All I know, is my AV hasn't spoken up in a long, long time about crack. Now, when it says "I want to get NUMB", I recognize it as a warning sign and I get busy doing something else.
For me, it's no longer about crack, it's still learning to recognize that "numb" will probably be an option for a long time, but it no longer has the power it once had. Now it's more like an annoying fly that I just swat away
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

I should just let this go , but
I am angry & I shouldn't be feeling this way
I posted this thread looking for encouragement not looking for a program
I woke to see your thread ( visch1 ) and it changed my mood
You not only tried to push your program but disagreed with another
If you got nothing good to say , say nothing

It's a forum. People have different points of view, and sometimes you won't agree with someone else. This is the nature of discussion by diverse individuals. Remember that you have an "ignore" option on the forum--it's there so you don't have to read posts you don't like to read.

People who are staying clean and sober are the people we should be looking to. Whether they do it with AA or something else.
Notmyrealname : I think you just gave me reason to use it. I came here looking for support , to not use drugs today. I am in a fragile state of mind. I didn't need all this
Hey Riky, I'm so pleased you're doing well. I've been following you from the beginning and willing you on.
It's important you remain focused now. Don't get side-tracked my friend.
You are awesome x

11 days is awesome! You just have to get thru it one day at a time. Make it simple and don't try to complicate it.
The longer you stay sober the better it gets.
People can only make you upset if you let them. Take what you need from the responses and leave the rest.

I take that back i thought you said you were going to use. triky don't let that beast give u a reason to use again. People are always going to upset us. You can't put the world on ignore. You have to learn to cope. No one here said anything offensive to you, they were sharing their experience.
Hey Ricky - I don't know if this was mentioned, but there is a new thread each month for newcomers. I hung out mostly just there for a few months. It is 100% supportive. I have seen people driven off after posting on the main forums, so don't get frustrated. Check out the thread for the month you stopped. For example, my 'class' is November 2012. If you need help finding it, let me know, but check out the Class of July, 2013 if you have not already.
