Two milestones I achieved on Day 1 of being sober

The first was BBQing dinner without a drink in my hand. I can honestly say that I cannot recall a time in the last 15 years while lighting a BBQ that I did not have a drink in my hand.

It was very strange. I literally had an extra hand to work with :-)

The other was watching an SF Giants (local baseball team) game from start to finish in the evening without having a drink. They won BTW!

These things seem small but they are actually HUGE for me.

Never really gave much thought about triggers but I guess they are everywhere.

Bob - I remember feeling very strange those first few weeks. Not bad, just odd. It all settles down. I had one by my side during most activities. It's like learning to live again in a new way. We are free, and it's a beautiful feeling once we give it a chance.

Glad to hear of your progress - you're doing great.

Good job on battling those triggers and winning. Triggers have a way of sneaking up on us. First time in a restaurant I didn't know what to do with my hands!!! In the past, one if them always rested next to my wine glass comfortably ( or was gripping the glass whit knuckled). I found myself so fidgety that first time, but it went away...used to it now:-)

If you stay sober until the next time the Giants win you could be sober for years.

Just kidding but I couldn't resist. very cool that you have a sober and good day
