Day 4 and craving - I can virtually taste the wine on my lips

I have spent the day like a headless chicken with the kids, I feel tense and I'm craving a chilled glass of wine. I have lots to do before bed and I can't help feeling that I'd do everything much more gracefully if I had a little buzz. I'll get through it and in the morning I'll be thankful, just had to share my thoughts - I think I feel better already. Off to bathe the little ones

Try to find something else to relax you,

Chocolate ice cream and long showers with a nice body lotion were a favorite of mine in early recovery , brushing my teeth was also good as wine and toothpaste was never good .

Stick with it , On day 4

Bestwishes, m

As the others said, stay with us- you are definitely doing the right thing by coming here to get help with the cravings. Day 3/4 were personally the absolute worst for me, and then it started getting a lot better - hope the same applies for you as well.

Think of ethanol or gasoline on your lips. It's the same thing.

Would you crave it ?

Thank you all, sharing does make it easier... I will keep this in mind.
Mecanix you are absolutely right - I do need to find other ways to destress. I'm always really busy in the evening, I have 6 kids - 5 still at home and I'm a single parent to them. As I type I'm giving baby his bedtime bottle and the 5 and 6 yr olds are waiting for toothbrushing and to be tucked into bed. In 30 mins my 11yr old will be in hungry from the skatepark followed by his 15 yr old brother who will be twice as hungry! Then there's all the chores to finish etc etc...
What I'm saying is... Wine just kind of fitted in nicely around this, it made me feel less stressed and more mellow around the kids. I don't have time to indulge in long baths or showers, I get up at 6am, before the kids to shower and prepare for the day.
Im not making excuses, I want to stay sober, I just don't want to turn into a crank around the kids in the evenings. I don't get any respite from them, especially the baby (16 months old) who has never left my side since birth, so I do find things a bit stressful sometimes.
Maybe the chocolate ice cream is a good idea, I suppose it wouldn't hurt as I've been eating so much healthier in my sober days (this my 3rd attempt in 4 weeks - I got to 8 days in June).
Thanks again everyone, I will keep reading and posting when I can

six kids? six!! i only have one (age 13) and that's about all i can deal with.

you're clearly determined and want to do right by your kids. you absolutely can do this.

i couldn't imagine a life without my lovely bottle of anaesthetic. i'm at day 31 now, and i could not have done it without the support and friendship i've found here.

it gets easier. i promise. looking back, the first 10 days were a blur of white knuckles and a twitchy brain. just keep on keeping on, one day at a time. it will get better.

live up to your full potential - i bet it's amazing.

Wow sounds like a busy home

My cousin who's in NA has four kids , she said letting her standards slip before an alcohol slip was sometimes necesary. She had some big resentments going on about housework . Her children seem to appreciate this new slightly less perfect, slightly less scarry mum .
