Hey all

Hello, I'm Brett, and I'm an alcoholic,

I googled cooking with wine and found a forum on this website. I've been sober for 5 months now, and have been going to AA meetings, almost daily, for the past 3 weeks. I just had some questions I needed an answer for tonight, and I didn't want to phone anyone on my call list.

I love cooking, but want to expand my skills a bit, and Ramsay has a great cook book, and he seems to like to use vermouth, sherry, white wine, and I just don't know if I'm being risky. I'm thinking that the more I get comfortable with cooking, the easier I'll be able to find recipes, I love, without alcohol.

Now I'm interested in the chat

thx,

Brett

I don't cook with alcohol or knowingly ingest it.

Some may think thats being too cautious but thats how much my recovery means to me...

I found this eye opening too

welcome to SR Brett

Hi Brett! Congrats on 5 months.

I don't cook with alcohol either and I won't eat anything made with it either. I am the same way with mouth wash and medicines. No alcohol.

Ok, thanks.

I bought a non-alcoholic white wine, but maybe I'll just use white grape juice and wine vinegar.

Oh, it's just a hobby. Did some line-cooking in a pub, worked for years in produce, but I've been at BC Ferries for years now. I just like to eat good food, and am starting to really enjoy what I can do, and create.
