it's not clear how much i can comment on here as medical advise is not allowed and this is a medicine. i made a mistake it seems by saying what i did.
however, i found it very uncomfortable when i chose to stop taking paxil and later found that i was not alone in this. for that reason, your son should certainly be in contact with a doctor should he choose to stop using paxil.
you can google these things and have a more in depth conversations with your doctor or doctors regarding this, but we can only say so much here.
i did not have the addiction to alcohol at the time that i do now, but i do not recall it causing cravings in me, i just remember it being very uncomfortable, almost as if it was the withdrawal was built into the pill, however it does go away and i can certainly tell you i have no cravings for paxil.
i was somewhat of a strong young man at the time and dealt with it, but it was very real and concerns me about how other people my handle that.
i very much recommend you discuss this with your doctor and do your research on reputable medical literature. SR is not the place for this discussion. though i responded because i care and you addressed me directly, i'm not going to totally blow you off. we are a community of people that want to help each other.

Please take this issue to your dr, your son's dr or a lawyer.
