Appetite
Oh yes, absolutely a bigger appetite. Fortunately I've been able to replace those cravings with healthy snacks. I've been much healthier cutting out the alcohol, and eating more real food, as I've lost 18 pounds in the 5 months that I've been sober. Not only does alcohol have a lot of empty calories, but it can slow down your body's metabolism and ability to burn fats.
Oh yes. First two weeks after I quit I ate EVERYTHING!! My favorite was triple chocolate cupcakes which I was downing six pack at a time
Make sure that you're getting all your vitamins, especially the Bs. Your body needs some help while fixing itself.
Enjoy the mornings with no hangover!!! I never get enough of those

i ate very healthy for the first two weeks... then for the next four weeks i ate three balanced meals plus absolutely every bit of sugar i could lay hands on. (giant bowls of ice cream being my biggest demon.) today is now day two of a very well-rounded, nutrient-dense eating strategy... but i'm giving myself a small bit of chocolate each night.
i let my stomach direct me... and finally my insides are screaming for less crap!! from what i've read here and heard in my recovery program, this is extremely common...

I pretty well starved myself when I was drinking so I was under weight when I quit. I had a hard time eating in the beginning. I actually went on a food binge when I was at around 3 months. Mostly sugar and carbs. I couldn't get enough of the sugar.
