New

Hi all, I am very new to this. I have realized that I have had a problem with alcohol for some time. In fact as far back as I can think, any bad or stupid situation I have ever found myself in has been due to alcohol. In the last four years situations seems to be getting way out of control. Since January I have tried twice to stop, once for 4 weeks, then I drank again, then for 6, then I drank again on big stupid binges where I get myself into stupid, dangerous situations and most of the time dont even remember them happening . . . . . Now I have stopped again since Saturday and decided to reach out to this forum to listen and learn and see if it can help,

My wife knows I have a problem. My kids are small and as most of my drinking happens when I am on business trips they don't really see the problem. I am scared that if the truth were to come out that she would leave me.

Thats all I feel like sharing right now.

C.

to the family! You've come to a good place for support. Giving up drinking is a smart decision. I quit over three years ago and don't miss it one bit.

I think this statement could have been made by many of us. This site is a wonderful resource to get a toe hold into, and a way of holding on to sobriety.

Welcome, and keep posting!

Hi and welcome, Caoimhin! I tried many, many times to quit drinking on my own, but it wasn't until I found this forum that I have had any success with it. Best thing I have ever done. Feel free to join the Class of July thread. Lots of support and understanding there and all over SR!
