Looking for Recovery Friends
Looking for Recovery Friends
I'm new to this forum. I'm trying to find support and recovery minded friends.
I am alcohol, drug and sugar (yes, sugar, my drug of choice) free right now.
I want to learn how to have honest, loving relationships. I use the Big Book as a manual for life. Also, working on my relationship with my HP.
If anyone on their recovery journey needs support, I'd love to help others.

Hi BlueEyes ;] I am new to the forum group as well (just joined today) and I am in desperate need for positive sober people in my life as well! I am here due to my opiate pill addiction... and I am within my first 24 hours of sobriety so I am here for you as i hope you can be here for me! ;]
BlueEyes I know what you mean about the sugar addiction. I quit drinking 5 months ago and finally had to cut myself off the sugar a couple of weeks ago. There is a part of this forum for healthy eating. You might check it out some time.

Glad that you are here. This is a fantastic group of people that support and encourage one another. Take time and browse around the site there'a lots of information and support here for you.
After my husband died, I came to terms with the fact just I was am addict and controlled by sugar, Xanax, stimulants and alcohol. I weaned myself off everything but the sugar and caffeine until now. That is what I really held on to. It makes it so that I can't think or function. Just because something is legal doesnt mean that it's not cause a slow death. I could not quit it on my own no matter how hard I tried.
Welcome BlueEyes! I'm with you on the sugar addiction. Sugar was my very first drug of choice in childhood and one I haven't ever been able to let go of. Now that I've got off the opiates I find my sugar cravings have increased in insane amounts. Put on a good ten pounds from it, aacckk! I'm hoping to get to the place where I can let it go one day. Would love to read more about how you're doing it. Take care.
