Dreams of drinking

About three times a month I will dream that I am drinking again. Sometimes I know in my dream that I quit and drink any way, sometimes in my dreams I can limit how much I drink. But every time, I will wake up and feel a very strong sense of guilt, until I realize it was just a dream.

Does anyone else dream these things?

I daydream about. :P Not all the time, but occasionally.
I've had only one boozy dream since quitting.

You may want to see dreams as an opportunity, rather than threatening.

I've been experimenting with lucid dreaming. A lucid dream is when you realize you're dreaming while in the dream.

One of my goals is to contact my higher power, and enlist their help.

Stephen LaBerge wrote a book on lucid dreaming - how to get them; how to use them - and although he didn't address addictions, other than with dieters who were able to eat their fill without consequence in lucid dreams, he has many suggestions which may be helpful to us.

I think it's common to dream about drinking. I've had those dreams many times. It may be that dreaming could be a healing resource for us. In any event, dreams are a safe place to address addictions and other problems. You won't have the police knocking at your door as a result of what you did in a dream.
