3 weeks

So, I made it to three weeks. And then fell spectacularly off. It's been an absolutely beautiful weekend here in the UK - yet another I've wasted away with alcohol. But I feel different.

I don't feel defeated. I feel more determined than ever to beat this *******. And I've come to realise I need to do something even harder than give up alcohol - I need to give up the people who encourage me to continue along this path. When I started this journey of deciding to quit, I thought it was all about me. But after tasting sobriety I realise there are more people in this situation than I had ever imagined.

I believe I can do this. And today I'm celebrating 24 hours sober. I know I can go the distance.

Did you go to AA? I've been thinking about it for years - never got the courage to go.

Marjora good for you! You learned from it and that is all that matters.

Just go, I know you can do it. The first time going is really the hardest.

It's well worth finding the courage I phoned the local helpline before I went and someone met me outside the meeting. That really helped. I didn't do AA long term but I learn't a lot there.

Have you had any other support in quitting? There is a lot of support available in the UK. If you do a google search for alcohol/addiction agencies in your area you should be able to find something. Otherwise your doctor can refer you. They usually have group and one on one support there too x
