The tragedy of this disease I went to my usual 6:00 meeting tonight feeling sad and beat up. I have had a rough week at work. I've made careless mistakes and feeling tons of self doubt. Poor me. That all changed when I got to my meeting. I found out that one of our members with 4 years sobriety relapsed and suffered a major stroke. He has no brain activity. He is 45 years old. Today I am grateful for my sobriety and even though work has been tough and stressful, I will be able to start anew come Monday. Actually, the heck with Monday. I can turn my day around at any time if I choose to as long as I stay sober. Please pray for all who still suffer from this horrible disease. |
Goodness gracious...that is a "sobering" post. He is but a year younger than I. How very sad. |
Sally, Very sorry to hear about the member of your group - very sad:( |
Sorry to hear that. :( jeez, perspective. |
I'm so sorry to hear this. :c020: |
Wow, really puts things into perspective doesn't it? So sorry to hear... |
I'm really sorry for your friend Sally. D |
Thanks everyone. Didn't mean to be a downer. This incident just made me realize how short life iis. And that I have a choice on how to live it one day at a time. Today I will not drink. |
Prayers for your friend and his family. |

Thank you for the reminder, Sally. We can't go back there ever again. Prayers for that poor man who never dreamed he'd be ending his life. |
So sorry to hear that Sally and I'm happy that you're here! |
