worried about tomorrow
worried about tomorrow
Wednesdays are my worst, my horrible, trying, stressful day of the work week. It was 2 weeks ago tomorrow that I came home from work completely stressed out, in tears and drank a bottle of wine, plus 2 vodka drinks and sat on the couch and cried. Then I was on vacation for a week, so tomorrow will be the first Wednesday being sober and I'm worried I'm going to crack under the pressure. My ego is trying to predict the future as usual, using the prior Wednesdays for examples. Otherwise it will be day 14 of sobriety, yay!!!
Try not to let the past or the predictions for the future define today.
That is what I have been trying to do and not just with drinking. I think we can and should learn from our mistakes and not use them as an excuse to repeat behavior that we know now, is a down hill road.
Take it hour by hour if you have to. Come on here and post away. Do anything but drink. Hang in there

Remember that an excuse to drink is just that. An excuse. An alcoholic can turn any situation into one that calls for a drink or 10. It's up to you to weigh the choices you have and see that there's never a valid excuse to drink. Do not dread tomorrow. Don't borrow trouble, as my mom would say. Tomorrow is just another 24 hours. It will pass as it always does. Remember that it's always one day at a time, no matter what day it is. Breath deep and walk forward with your head held high.
I just went back and re-read all the wonderful supportive answers to my very first, tentative post I wrote two weeks ago, and all the encouraging words made me feel a lot more empowered! Thanks everybody!
I am sorry to hear that stressful situations trigger drinking habits. Perhaps you can manage a way to reduce stress in the workplace? I hope you don't worry too much about tomorrow - sometimes focusing on positive things (like ice cream) works for me!
Alexa,
First, congratulations on 13 days. Tomorrow, when you get home, make a pot of coffee, or your favorite non alcoholic drink and come here. Stay here until the point in time has passed that you would drink. It saved me last Saturday.
You can do this! I promise!

I found it easier by checking the time in Sidney , if i knew it was tomorow there i had nearly made it .. It was then a geographical problem not a i can't get through this day problem
then it was a countdown as i saw cities across the globe go into tomorow .
I know i was kidding myself a bit but i was looking for the tiniest edge to get me through .
I still have the times of the major cities around the world as little clocks on my computers desktop .
Bestwishes, m

You're HERE!
I knew that you could do this! One HUGE HUG!
If it helps I got to go to my first party where alcohol was present and made it through. It was a little tough but I made it through. I left with my dignity which is something that I rarely have ever been able to say!
So happy that you're here
