Can anyone suggest some good books about alcohol & recovery (aside from the Big Book)?
Thank you in advance.

How long have you been in AA recovery? Are you quite familiar with the big Book?

All the best.

Personally, I couldn't get through the "Big Book." I'm currently reading "Alcohol The World's Favorite Drug" by Griffith Edwards. It's a scientific/historical look at alcoholism that I find really fascinating. I also plan to start "Drinking A Love Story" by Caroline Knapp. It's supposed to be really good... will let you know.

I got my first Big Book in 2000 before I entered AA. I used to love slamming rum and coke while reading it (especially the stories).
I recently finished "90 days" by Bill Clegg. It was his story of early sobriety. Very honest and well written book.

Healing the addicted brain and pass it on. The big book is and likely always will be the definitive statement on alcoholism and more importantly recovery

Happy fourth! Quick follow-up.. "Drinking A Love Story" is amazing. It's been very profound for me (the author's life as a reporter and high-functioning alcoholic kinda parallels mine). Anyway, I really recommend it. Sadly, the author died at 42, a month after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

I would give my thumbs up to:

The Spirituality of Imperfection by Ernest Kurtz/Katherine Ketcham (it's been incredibly important to my recovery)
and

Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Drinking (which really nailed it for me ..that the stuff is POISON)

This is an old book (1959)... but 'The Search For Serenity' by Lewis F. Presnall is a good read- it's like the BB except condensed and straight-forward.
