I'm back!

Well I have had some bumps in the road but I have taken another step on quitting! I have told my doctor about my drinking and my want to quit. It was a real emotional visit to say the least. So she has put me on 10 mg of celexa. I hope that helps. I tried to do some research online about it and I started to get nervous. Anyone else taking celexa? Does it help?

Good for you. This is such a devastating disease. I am on my way back to a rehab, Ive left the BF. I just can't handle all of the criticism. He just puts me down at every moment. Like its some kind of competition.
I just don't get it. I was raised with manners. He has no sense of compassion or please and thank yous. Don't like it I'm out of here. You've got to do the deed.

I'm sorry about your bf but sometime you need to do what is best for you! Best of luck at rehab. Remember you have lots of support!

I have no experience with celexa but if you're concerned I'd see your Dr to discuss it.

In any case, I figure anythings better than drinking BowTiesAreCool

I've been on Celexa for years. No side effects but they are hard to get off of. There are no long lasting side effects from them.My dr. said one can take them for years. They really even me out.I still have highs and lows ;Can cry etc. but not numb like I have heard other people say it does to them.
I hope it helps you.I t sure helps me.

I'm glad you talked to your dr and I hope you keep posting here.

Hopefully the Celexa will work for you.

Hi, I just started taking Celexa about 4 weeks ago and I've really noticed a difference after about two weeks. No side effects for me so far and still feel feelings....so good luck and if it doesn't feel right to you, go back to Dr. and tell him/her about it. Cheers.

Have been on many anti depressant but not celexa.
Where one does not work, another might.
Withdrawal syndromes and s'effs also differ among individuals.
Its generally inadvisable to take most types with alcohol.

Big step BowTies! I have had no experience with any drugs for helping with this disease - however, I too spoke with my Doctor for the first time last week. It too was an emotional appointment. Partly because it is the first time I have spoken with anyone other than my husband and my sister over the phone.

We also are involved in a lot of activities together - xc skiing, dh skiing, running etc so it was very embarrassing to admit to this other side of me.

Wishing you success!

It's funny, I feel great! My spirits are feeling hopeful! I also feel a lot of relief from finally talking to my doctor about this. I am glad I did so. I can't wait to see how the meds effect me seeing as it's too early too feel effects yet. I know I am just excited.

Whatever you do, follow your doctor's orders. My long time boyfriend, many years ago, was prescribed celexa under similar circumstances. He didn't like some of the effects and stopped taking it, knowing there would be emotional withdrawals, etc. 2 weeks later, he committed suicide. You'll notice there is a suicide warning on the labels now. It's because of people like him.
