Hi all,

Im in the uk and was wondering, if i move just outside the area will the surgery force me to change surgeries ?

Last time i moved they sent me a letter requesting i signed up with a nearer surgery. I want to keep the same dr

Any ideas ?

Hi 123,
My friend moved outside the area (i.e. 4 miles away) and was able to stay with the same surgery I think it depends on what rules they have, I don't think they can force you to change. I think that it is to do with home visits a lot of the time and if its too far for the doctor to travel to.

If you are happy with your doctor, I would phone up and tell them you are happy and really do not wish to change doctors.

I had this problem and had to change. It does have to do with home visits. It has always been a problem for me as I don't live where I work and would have to leave work an hour early to get to an appointment but I heard that the law was changing so that you wouldn't be tied to your home area. Maybe it already has.
