Are bar stools magnetic?

Sittin here in total disbelief ...

I went out last night to buy some things at the local store. Woke up with a hangover ... I remember going into the bar. Thought oh I can handle this ... NOPE. Before I knew it ... I smashed and walkin home. I honestly need to avoid bar stools at all costs ...

Gonna start fresh today ... but I gotta change my route to the store. There's gotta be at least 3 bars on the way.

I think they are. With my best intensions, my favorite bar would pull me in like a magnet. Then, of course, a drunk. I know what you mean, and , yes, change your route.

No, they create a vaccum that sucks your brains out of your a$$

You can blame the bar stools after you drink...Walking in a bar, that's on you.

Yup, change your route home, shop in different store, whatever it takes, but stay away from the bars.

I had to totally avoid walking by the liquor store I always went to. And the worse thing is that it was at the mall. So I just had to go in another entrance and try not to walk by it.

Was there something going on that made you do this? I ask because most relapses are planned whether we think so or not. There is intent there. We set ourselves up for it.

Changing your route home is only a temporary solution as there are bars on every route. And any chair in your house becomes a barstool pretty easily with a stop at the store to pick up some alcohol.

Bottom line you need to change your way of life. That could mean AA or AVRT or Counceling/Detox, or any combination of the above. But until you do form some kind of a plan, there will always be a way to find a drink - and you will find it.

^^^^^^^

Ya know ... you're right. I have honestly never tried a structured path to quit drinking. I went to AA for a brief time ( wasn't for me ). SOS worked fine ... but again ... didn't stick with a schedule or a plan. Think I'm gonna try to create a structured plan for myself. At least a weekly approach ...

A forward plan is invaluable I think....otherwise we tend to glide along on autopilot.
If you want change DM, you gotta make changes.
