Hello all,
I've recently been faced with the true problem of my abuse with alcohol. It's not an easy thing to admit, but the things I could lose are far greater than the problem, and I realize it's time to do something about it.
Any comments or suggestions are openly welcome and I will continue to check in and share my progress.
Thank you and good luck to all of you.

Hi justoneday
as a starter I can;t give any better advice than to read around and poist as much as you like here.
There are many different methods of recovery here - I encourage you to find one that makes sense to you and run with it
There really is a future after drinking - I'm glad you found us

Welcome justoneday!
I was never at my lowest as when I couldn't ignore my drinking anymore. It felt like defeat, but it was really only a turning point. I found a ton of support here and have been sober (and much happier) ever since.
If we can do it, you can too......

Hello justoneday,
You have done the right thing posting here, theres loads of support and information. My advice is to not pick up that next drink, do whatever you can to avoid it. If you need to see your dr then go and see him or find a local support meeting. You can quit.

Justoneday, you gave taken the hardest step. From now on, even if you drink, things will never be the same. It took me a long, wasted time from acknowledgement to sobriety, but once I found my way to SR I started down the path.
As mentioned, there are many ways to achieve your aim, no right or wrong, just what works. I wish you love and luck my friend.

Welcome to SR.Glad you are here.
It was helpful to me to know it is the first drink that does the damage,I always thought if only I just had a few I would be alright.
If you don't take the first drink you can't get drunk.
Wishing you well.

that sounds like a good plan!
in detox and therapy, as well as on SR, you'll find a lot of useful tools to use as well. strong will is awesome... but i've found that sometimes it's not enough. the example i love (which was passed down to me on my first day of sobriety) is "drink a bottle of exlax and try to use your strong will to keep from having to use the toilet." yes, it's foul, but paints a vivid picture!
i'm glad you're on this journey... you can do it!!
