Weekend approaching...a little scary

Today is day 5. The weekends are usually the hardest for me to even consider being sober. However, since I have had a few days of sobriety, I do feel better about the approaching weekend. Tomorrow I have a good 5 hours planned and if needed I can go to the 6 pm AA meeting. Sunday I don't have a lot planned, but do think its enough to keep me on track. Plus I have an AA meeting I really want to go to at 8pm. That should be encouragement not to drink.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the first sober weekend in a very very long time!

Congrats on day 5 Sinderos! You can do it, just think, you can actually enjoy the entire weekend without a hangover

Stay strong.

It gets easier the longer you stay sober. I don't equate weekends with drinking anymore. In fact, I don't equate any day or any situation with drinking. I'm living the promise of sobriety.

Have numbers handy, and call someone from AA if you need support.

That was the hard part for me at the beginning of my sobriety and I think that's when it's key to stay as busy as possible. And busy can mean absolutely anything. Ill watch movies or even play games on my phone to pass time and also enjoy them in the process. Try to remember things you used to enjoy before alcohol took up a large part of your life. Im now going and playing basketball at the park which was always my favorite thing to do before somehow my brain decided that alcohol has to be consumed each and every weekend. Good luck. Stay strong.

Hi Sinderos I get where you're coming from - sending you lots of virtual support you get through this. Keeping busy is a great way to go - I've been making charity bracelets ; helping others and myself. Good luck!

It can be a little scary but - Monday will come very soon... keep playing the tape forward you'll feel great starting the week sober.

Sounds like you have a good plan - stick close to SR if you need us !

Hang in there - you'll be even stronger and more confident next Friday!

Friday night...and I have the urge to drink, but I guess I will take care of some chores and wash some clothes or something. What I have been doing is exercising but my knee is sore so I have to rest for a couple of days. Today is my sixteenth day sober.

Dee, would you mind posting the link? I don't have a computer and have a hard time finding stuff sometimes on my iPhone.
