Hey Closer

I'm JC - alcoholic (with relapses). I KNOW exactly how you are feeling right now mate. I know it's horrible, but don't give up. As others have suggested to me (and it works !!!)

1)Don't be too hard on yourself. Booze turns me many ways, and always the way I didn't want to go. Concentrate on the you, the good sober person, who isn't the drunken warrior. (I'm the same with booze - I'm either kissing or punching)

2)Look at the situation you were in BEFORE you started drinking.?? Try and learn from what happened in that situation that got you boozing.

Great advice that was given to me, so I share it now.

Keep going, keep trying, keep learning buddy.

(((Closer))) It's ok, just learn from what happened and start again. I was sober 20 days and pretty much intentionally fell off. It happens, but we learn. Remember how you feel right now, the next time you think you want to drink. That's what they told me.

Also know that we are all here for you. We have been there and we work at this together. No judgement, just support!

Hugs to you my friend,
Missy

Hi Closer,

Welcome to SR. Shame is such a huge part of addiction isn't it? I hope you enjoy hanging around here. We can offer you a lot of support and understanding.

Hi Closer,

Hang in there. Don't beat yourself up over this, it happens. Just listen to the advice that's been given. Remember how you feel right now.

Red face one day at a time

((closer)) You are not alone ! I too break out in handcuffs when I drink, as a matter of fact thats one of the things that helped me hit my bottom this time round.Startin a huge bar fight and hitting a cop .Mind you I am a 44 year old woman...talk about a hall of shamer ! My point being we all do crazy things when drunk.I wouldnt dream of hittin some one while sober (most days *lol*) With me its just add booze- instant ass--le ! I think perhaps you will learn a valuable lesson from this slip.My heart goes out to you..and I am hopin you will find a support group and work a program ,at least that what works for me.Dont waste time beatin yourself up,the key for me was to take positive action to ensure it wont happen to me again. Alls we really have is today..Prayers to you ...

You know, the good thing about you is you've realized something has to be done, and admitted it's going to take some work. That's 99% of the battle, keep forging on!

heh closer
one of my tougher memories is of a drunken brawl in a parking lot while other people had to rescue my 5 yr old son who was trying to rescue his dad. No, we are not always pretty. the good news is that by doing recovery for the time i have done it, i have been able to finally take care of that past....most important: by doing recovery i am takling care of ME today.
as long as i keep doing what i'm doing, i'll keep getting what i've been getting
