Hello - New Here

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to make my first post.

43 days today - it is a record I only managed 41 before Christmas last year.

Sometimes it feels like Im swimming against the current and I am the only person not drinking, so it is good to check in with this community to feel I am not alone.

As you all know alcoholism is very taboo and secret so no one knows of the daily struggle involved and it is impossible to discuss it with anyone, not even family members, and especially not work colleagues.

Weekends are the hardest, grateful I have just got another one under my belt. Was just wondering though, if someone could advise who is further along the line, if the pang I feel on a Saturday night will ever fade.

Thank you to all that post, great to know you are there.

I won't drink today, good luck everyone :-)) xx

Hi. Pray tell what's the secret about our drinking when we usually make fools of ourselves, our exploits are on the news or newspaper, our car ends up on the neighbors lawn, police visit on a regular basis, we stink of booze and on and on. I'd suggest becoming a member of AA where people understand us and there is help with our thinking process. BE WELL

welcome Amethyst65

The more I stayed sober the more I changed - I don't feel the Friday or Saturday night pang at all now...I'm too busy doing other things

Yes, the cravings and feelings will fade with time the longer you stay sober. Keep at it and you'll be feeling better soon. Don't give up!
