New Beginnings

That's what I'm begging for, new beginnings. I'm determined to taper before I leave to start a new chapter in my life. Looking to find help in taper. Mine is about 4-5 10 mg a day. I have the klonopin available to help. Not sure where to start or how. Took them for ddd c4-c6 and then lost my mother. They help me cope. Leaving soon to join spouse in another country and want to leave this mess behind and become the person I'm capable of being. Any help appreciated.

I found the geographical cure never works. Wherever I went there I was. I am the problem not my surroundings.

Seconding the geographical thing. It didn't matter how far I went, I never left me behind.

Anna, ddd means degenerative disc disease in this case involving cervical vertebrae 4 to 6.
I imagine the OP is speaking of opiates?

You think they help you cope, but no. They are like a band-aid, and whatever pain or emotions you are covering up with drugs will be waiting there for you when you get sober. There is no way around them, and they have to be dealt with accordingly. The good new is, they aren't going to be as scary as you think, especially when you face them with a clear head and the confidence you will accumulate in recovery. I know, I did the same thing with booze and my sisters death. It didnt work out well, to say the least. Now I am able to process my grief and the sense of loss I feel in a much healthier way. You will too, but you gotta kick the pills. They are in control now and who wants to live like that? You can do this.
