Survived a trip to Vegas......
I was very anxious when I learned that my work was sending me to a conference in Las Vegas this month. I debated on whether I could handle Vegas at just under a year of sobriety. Been to Vegas a few times in the past, it's a heaven for a drinker, 24 hour nightlife with gambling and plenty of alcohol.....in fact, the city is built around alcohol, it's everywhere and everyone is drinking.....it's the core of vacationing in Vegas. Those of you who have been know what I mean.
Well, I'm back home after 5 days and four nights. I got some pool time in, some blackjack and some great shows. Not a drop of booze. Im very proud of myself. I post this to hopefully give someone else the confidence to do the same. You can do it too.....

Nice job 50BER!
I haven't been to vegas for over 3-4 years now. It's almost pointless for me to go there because I have a very addictive personality. I have issues with gambling, drugs, and alcohol, so basically everything there is a big temptation for me. I know for myself I really have no business being there. If my job were to require me to go, then that would only be the reason for me to go. ANYWAYS, good for you for not slipping.

Good job! I had been saving for a trip in the fall prior to my recent decision to quit drinking. I have been re-thinking the intelligence of the trip since being sober. Still not sure..but nice to know it can be done! Way to go : )

Then again, there is a lot of entertainment, and a number of world class restaurants. It can also be a shopper's paradise. And just checking out the various casinos or walking the strip can be entertaining, so it's possible to have a good time in LV without drinking or gambling.
Still, the 24 hour availability of alcohol and the temptations makes LV a tricky place for anyone in early sobriety.
Thanks FeenixxRising,
We're going in August for our vacation. There are SO many fun things to do, I've been researching on Trip Advisor, internet etc. I wish I would have done that years ago, who knew?!! :-). And for those in AA... Of course, there are meetings. My husband always goes to them when we travel ( Now I get to...excited!). Vegas baby ya....

Sounds fun Barbie. You may want to check out the Las Vegas Advisor website if you haven't already.
