2nd day

Hi, I've made it to day 2. I feel like I've been hit by a bus, and this is worse than a hangover. Is this normal?

Withdrawal can certainly be unpleasant, and sometimes dangerous. Have you spoken with your DR about it at all?

Yeah, he gave me diazepam and antabuse, and I'm sleepy from both, but I can't just sleep all day...

It is very crappy in the beginning. No doubt but you are on your way. Congrats. Think of the pain as a good hard workout. Sometimes it takes some stress/pain/worry to get results. Wear it is a badge of getting better. Keep going.

It is ok if you have to sleep; your body is going through a lot right now. Day 2 is wonderful! Congratulations! This is hard but it does get better! It drove me nuts to hear that when I was first getting clean and sober....but it is true.

Hey there - we have the same sobriety day (day 2 for me too)! I know I'm still sweaty, shaky, panic-attacks, throat swollen up (chokey when I try to swallow or eat), feeling crappy in general. I've never had a seizure though, and I've done this so many times I know I'm fine. Hopefully you are detoxing safely. Sending good vibes your way.

Glad to hear you saw your doc. The first few days were very crappy for me. The first few weeks were actually all over the map.

Your body is slowly starting to wake up from being constantly drunk and you will feel things you haven't felt in a long time. Plus your body is flushing out all the accumulated bad stuff. Give it time...it will definitely get better.

Swizzlekiss, Good luck to you also. Yeah, I've done this a lot too. I'm usually sweaty and shaky, but this time I can't sleep at night and am sleepy all day. I think it is the medication though. Good vibes right back at you!

Hi Mirel
I relate.
im in my last days of detox. I went to the doctor he gave me medication. I took it as prescribed. my first and second day were horrible. My first dose made me sleep till my normal wake up and drink time 4:00 am. I took the pills as directed. (every 4 hours), after that initial rest for the next two days I had such panic, Could not sleep, every part of my body hurt, my wife and kids were driving me nuts and i was sick. I called the doc. he said the medicine needs to get into your system. on day 3 i actually cleaned the aquarium. my wife freaked out told me to rest and reminded me to take at least the minimum dose. It got better. it got bearable. Ill be off completely by tomorrow night. thats a huge fear but i have no choice.

I hope you fell better soon. its horrible. we should try not to do this again.
