Bring on day 1
Hello. I've been a lurker on this site a few weeks now and finally decided to post in the hope that this will give me extra motivation to stop drinking. Unfortunately I have drunk today so tomorrow will be my day 1. I struggle every day not to drink and the weekends I find just so hard especially when the weather's good. I did 10 days sober the other week and felt so good for it, so it should be easy right??! I relate to so many people's posts on this site in that basically once I start I just can't stop, and not really sure how much I enjoy it when i do drink as even when I'm drinking one drink I'm planning the next. Anyway, bring on tomorrow, day one.
Random Big Book quote:
To watch people recover, to see them help others, to watch loneliness vanish, to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends - this is an experience you must not miss. Page 89

Welcome Ali! It's great to have you join us. You'll find the support you need here.
I drank every day by the time I finally quit. As you said, you're not really sure you even enjoy it. That was the point I had reached. I just did it because I always had - and didn't think anything would be fun without it. Being numb is not fun. You can do this, Ali.

Ali when i first started drinking regularly it was an everyday event. When i decided to try and quit i became a binge drinker 4 days here, 2 weeks sober, 7 days here, a month sober. Im not saying relapse is good but not everyone can quit cold turkey. Unfortunately it took me getting a dwi and an attempted suicide to wake the hell up and realize i couldnt do it alone. I dont go to AA but i linger here alot and have recently felt more confident in posting so i dont feel im totally alone. Its helped alot now that im normalizing again and dealing with past buried emotions.
